Every snowflake begins high within the clouds, where changing temperatures and humidity shape its intricate crystalline structure. As each crystal grows, it develops delicate branches and geometric patterns influenced by its journey through the atmosphere.
During active Colorado winter storms, I carefully collect snowflakes by hand and preserve them while working below freezing. Temperature, humidity, wind, light, and even a single breath can affect these fragile crystals before preservation is complete.
Once preserved, something that would ordinarily disappear within moments becomes a lasting piece of natural art.
What I especially love about these black onyx pendants is the beautiful simplicity of the contrast. Against the dark stone, every tiny branch and individual formation of the snowflake becomes part of the design.
